Scope and Methodology 

This Nordic Business Diversity Index 2024 examines publicly reported diversity aspects in the Board of Directors and Executive Management teams of companies listed on NASDAQ in Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Iceland. The mission is clear: to bring data-driven awareness to the diversity of leadership in large organizations. 
 
What is Nordic Business Diversity Index measuring? 

Aspects of diversity that are publicly available and reported on the Board of Directors and Executive Management teams by the over 600 listed companies in Nasdaq Helsinki, Stockholm, and Copenhagen. These metrics are Age, Nationality, Binary Gender, and Educational Background. We want to base our Index on publicly available information and highlight the importance of transparency when we talk about senior leadership. Even with some gaps and differences in disclosure between the Nordics, this set of metrics seems to be most commonly used by companies when disclosing background 
information on Executive Management and Board of Directors. These metrics are also defined in the Corporate Governance Code of the Finnish Securities Market Association as those to be considered when defining diversity principles for Board of Directors.
