Summary
As digital technologies continue to reshape industries, our client recognised a growing gap between its current organisational capabilities and the skills required to succeed in the future. While digitalisation was progressing across the organisation, the potential implications of increased AI adoption had not yet been systematically addressed. The key question was clear: how well do existing skills align with future demands, and which capability gaps should be prioritised to ensure long-term readiness?
Partnering with Impaktly, the client set out to build a clear, evidence-based understanding of its future skills requirements. Together, we developed a comprehensive skills gap assessment to support strategic decision-making, guide targeted investments in capability development, and help the organisation proactively prepare for the changes ahead.
Our approach
Impaktly supported the client through a structured and participatory process designed to combine analytical rigour with strong organisational ownership. The work began with desktop research to identify key technology trends and their implications for future skills, with particular focus on digitalisation and AI-driven change.
These insights were complemented by interviews and a survey across the organisation, providing a grounded view of current capabilities and perceived development needs. The findings were synthesised into a clear skills framework, distinguishing between foundational skills required broadly across the organisation and expert skills needed in more specialised roles.
To ensure alignment and commitment, the analysis was validated and further developed through a collaborative design sprint. Bringing together key stakeholders, the sprint enabled shared prioritisation of development areas and the co-creation of a practical skills development and training roadmap. The result was a clear, actionable plan that equips the organisation to invest confidently in the capabilities needed for the future.
